HIPAA Security, Privacy, and Compliance Officer Job Descriptions
Position Summary
The duties of the Security Officer include overseeing and coordinating company-wide efforts to identify, promulgate, and enforce key corporate security initiatives and standards. The Security Officer will work with all facility departments, including engineering, providers, HR, IT, legal, and others, in the performance of these duties.
Security initiatives and standards shall include those for virus protection, security monitoring, intrusion detection, access control to facilities, remote access policies, and such other initiatives and standards as may be required under law. The Security Officer shall report directly to the company administrator.

The Privacy Officer establishes and maintains systems to ensure the facility properly maintains privacy of patients’ protected health information (PHI). The Privacy Officer also develops and oversees programs that educate the workforce on HIPAA Privacy Rule compliance. The Privacy Officer has overall responsibility for the facility’s privacy program, and all associated policies and procedures that serve the best interest of staff, patients, and business associates.

Position Summary
The Compliance Officer is responsible for working on and coordinating the facility’s HIPAA compliance efforts, and provides project management-level guidance to HIPAA team members. The Compliance Officer interfaces with other organizations for HIPAA group-related projects.
